Top 10 Backpacking Gear Ideas 2019 !!!

#1  Jet Boil

The JetBoil has been around long enough to have worked out all the kinks. It comes with its own cup to eat or drink out of after heating things up.  All of the stove parts pack up into the cup itself.  It is lightweight, incredibly durable and heats very quickly. If you just want a stove the cup detaches and leaves a reliable little burner. I have personally used this system in cold, windy weather, it always fires up, and is very simple to set up and take down. It is a must-have for backcountry hiking.

#2  Platypus Gravity Works Water Filter
If you are looking to head into the backcountry with a group of people the Platypus is imperative. This system has a rapid filter rate that is gravity fed, simply fill the "Dirty Bag" with creek water, hang it above the "Clean Bag" and go about setting up camp, in minutes you will have plenty of clean water for your group. Personal experience has proven this is so easy to use my five years old has filtered enough water for 4 people on an overnight stay. It is made of a very durable plastic that has been all over the world in my pack and is still going strong. The system can be found on Amazon for only 119.95.

#3 Rain Fly
A rain fly is a must for any outdoorsman, this is lightweight and packable for a rucksack or put it in your truck for those random fishing trips. This makes a great affordable gift for that hard to buy for person, use it as a ground cloth at a kids soccer game or shelter over your hammock. It is made of very durable ripstop material with re-enforced tie-down rings.
#4 Life Straw

This handy little pocket filter is a great go-to filter when hiking near small creeks or lakes. Not recommended for refilling water bottles or camelbacks, but great for a quick drink on your way up the mountain.

#5 Collapsable Fozzil Dishes

These handy dishes fold out flat, adding only ounces and taking up virtually no room in your pack. They simply unsnap to lay flat then snap them back together when you are ready to eat. They are made of durable plastic that won't let you down, ideal for the minimalist packer.

#6 Hammock

Sleeping on the ground when backpacking is overrated, get your head out of the dirt and away from the creepy crawlers with a backpacking hammock. These are easy to set up and have lasted this outdoorsman for years of backcountry trips and brutal days of children using it as a fort.  It has ripstop nylon and re-enforced ends with ropes to attach between two trees.

#7 Sleeping Pad
The Thermarest Foam Pad is a must for the bottom of your hammock on a chilly night, or for sitting around the campground. They offer a sufficient amount of padding and the reflective heat shield keeps your body heat close. It doesn't pack as small as some of the inflatable mats, however, it does not run the risk of popping or slowly deflating in the middle of the night.

#8 Lighted Beanie
Whether setting up camp in the dark or just making that midnight run to the loo, this hands-free lighted device makes for easy work when trying to find your way. The beanie is made out of %100 polyester making it extremely comfortable and durable. The lights are at just the right angle so they light the way without blinding you, but put off an impressive 48 lumens. Check out the link below for more colorful options.

#9 Hatchet

This lightweight hatchet comes equipped with a cover and a flint, the handle is wrapped in emergency paracord, and the back of the hatchet is a rope cutter. It is small enough to fit any pack and keeps an edge when sharpened. It is a handy survival tool that is incredibly affordable.

#10 Mummy Bag

Backpacking sleeping bags are a must but can often be very pricey, This bag is ultralight, good down to 0 degrees, packs very small, and is available for less than eighty bucks. I do recommend buying an additional compression sack and only using it during warmer months without a liner. It is great for Spring and Fall but would need some help in the winter.
